Facts on Roof Rats

The Roof Rat is about 40cm in length and is either black or brown in color. These rodents have a pointed nose, smooth fur, and their body is more slender than the Norway Rat. Like their name suggests, the Roof Rat likes to live in high places such as roofs, attics, and trees but they can be found on the ground as well. They eat fruits and nuts but will consume almost anything if needed and they also hoard their food for later consumption.

These rats live for about one year and female Roof Rats produce 4-6 litters (6-8 rats each) per year. Since these rats breed all year, 40 rodents per female is possible.
